Best traction
Pardon my ignorance if I'm completely out to lunch, but this is the first 4x4 vehicle I've owned and it has the part-time and full-time option and I'm just curious as to what they mean and what should I keep it on to obtain best traction while driving on slippery/icy roads. I would also like to know what the 4Lo means and if keeping it in 4x4 mode will affect my fuel efficiency. Thank you.

Re: Best traction
I'm not totally familiar with your Jeep but Heres my thought.
Normal highway dry .. part-time Slippy highway....full-time Slippy in your driveway going slow...4lo Best deal is read your owner manuel but if like me I bought a used 2010 and it still didn't have one in it ! Took me forever to set the darn clock ! |
Re: Best traction
acutally part-time locks front and rear axles while fulltime maintains a open center diff.
so normal condition 4x4 full time . when you think your going to get stuck then its 4x4 partime and if you need serious pulling power at slow speed then 4x4 low |
