97 GC Rear pinion seal

Hey all.
Just noticed the other day some fluid dripping... not much but enough to notice. At first I thought it was the diff cover but on further inspection it seams there is oil from the pinion seal down to the diff cover (hence why it seems to be coming from there). Anyways just wanted to see how hard you thought it would be to replace the seal. I have been told by a mechanic friend of mine to just take off the drive shaft. Mark where the plate, shaft and nut are, remove the nut noting how many rotations it takes to remove, pull the plate and replace the seal. Put it back on in reverse order tightening nut the same rotations as before in order to preserve the crush sleeve. Is that about it?
Any thoughts or opinions on the matter?

Thanks

That's pretty much it, just make sure you don't over torque it or you will ruin the crush sleeve
