2000 jeep grand cherokee limited
 

hi have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited awd 4.7, heres the problem when i first start up in the morning and drive away i get a hard shift sounds like it revs high then after that it shifts fine, anyone else have this problem and what was the soulution, any help would be helpful, thanks

Corey,

Hard to diagnose online but I have a few questions - when was the last transmission service? Is the vehicle warmed up before you put it in gear? Are you parked on an incline? These are just a few things that may part of the cause bur my only other thought is to bring it in to your local Jeep retailer to let them diagnose - who knows, it could be something as simple as a reprogramming.

thanks for the reply, usally when its parked over night then when i start it i drive away and then it has a hard first shift sounds like its whinning and then after that it shifts fine after its being used but if it sits more then two hours it does the same thing but only on the first shift, and as for service i have no idea has i just bought it a year ago, i am going to take it in for filter and fluid change but wonder wat i could have changed to fix the problem while the tranny pan is off

My only suggestion at this point is to get your Grand Cherokee in to your local dealer and explain exactly what you have explained here.
As for a transmission service, not knowing what kms you are at, the 2000 Grand Cherokee Owner's Manual states that the transmission fluid must be changed (fluid and filter) every 19000kms. What you'd be asking for at servicing is for a transmission service and ask to them to inspect for anything that would seem out of the norm.

i have heard the tps can do this try changing the tps
