Default 1995 Laredo, need more HP

Hey Everyone,

I got a V8 5.2, but I need a little more power. Any suggestions? 500$ budget.

Thanks!

Is it completely stock? If so, start with the basics...Intake/Exhaust. The more Air/Fuel you can move in and out, the more power you'll make.

Other things to look at would be performance chip for your computer, Larger throttle body, and while gearing won't actually give you more power, it'll change the way your power is transferred and may be worth considering as well.

How about a little more info about your Jeep and how you use it...

Later.

yeah are you wanting more power on the street or the trail?

a lower temperature thermostat will give you more power, so long as the radiator remains cool, but you can see noticeable HP increase here, I've installed a 160 degree t-stat in my WJ. and when its cool theres oodles of power... but when its in 4 low the power is same as a stock thermostat (so much the fan will kicks in... like stock) since the load on the engine is much higher, and the traveling speed is much lower... for $10 plus coolant you cant go wrong though... 180 degree is what most people will run its kinda the hybrid temp, retains a bit of fuel economy and creates just a bit of power

Air intake and high flow exhaust will help, so their definitely something to look into.

you might be able to do the poor mans throttle body mod (cutting out the uncessary walls to allow additional airflow at 1/2 to full throttle.) to your 5.2... helps the top end... i've done another mod to my 4.0 throttle body plate, and notched the sidewall so additional air and gives a bit more power at lower throttle positions.
