Canada 02 Grand Cherokee Limited Heater Core

So i'm 95% sure my heater core needs to be replaced, it smells like coolant in the cab when i start the engine, and then if i run the heat i see steam coming from under the glove box, and it leaves a film on the passenger window, and that corner of the windshield. Has anyone experienced a similar issue, and is there a way to take the heater core out without taking the whole dash apart/ Draining the A/C and Rad???? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the only way to get at it is to take the dash apart. Is you passenger floor getting wet at all? If not check your heater hoses right at the firewall and see if there is a pinhole that's letting vapour get sucked in.

You don't need to drain the prestone just pull the hoses under the hood and either tie them up in a place where they don't leak or join them with a piece of pipe. You might want to invest in a powered screwdriver if you don't have one, there are about a hundred screws involved. it's not a five minute job but its not difficult.

So I haven't noticed any coolant leaking on the floor, and i noticed when i park the car there's a puddle of something (not sure if it's oil or coolant) right behind the front passenger wheel and about 12 inches in.
This morning when i started my Jeep the low coolant light came on and when i checked the rad it was full, but the overflow was bone dry, so i filled it then when i turned the heat on the steam was coming out way more than before, and left a film on the whole windshield, Arrrg, i really hope it's like you said just heater hoses, i'll check it out
