Installing sbc350 in cj7
Hi can anyone tell me if i can simply install a 350 short block chevy into my present 81 cj7 Without adding a lift kit of any kind..my questions arrise as the 350 sits back farther and deeper into the engine compartment making so the crank pulleys are directly over the front axle differencial casing wondering if they will hit due to clearanc distance or lack of should say thank you Chuck

Re: Installing sbc350 in cj7
Sorry man all my jeeps have thier keys in the dash. Its like building a 32 ford coupe and putting348 scout motor in it .IMO. I guess putting a 350 in a jeep is a common swap and has been done countless times but I feel that OH WHAT THE HECK "I AM BRAND LOYAL" . You go out wheelin' with the boys and their driving a 80's 12" lifted truck ,40" tires (Ford Chev or Dodge) it just feels SO good to beat them up with a jeep. I know that jeep has had a kitchen sink full of different manufactures make their stuff but I can't remember a chev ever coming between the frame rails IMO Dawg

Re: Installing sbc350 in cj7
i guess that having a mopar stroker in your CJ is technically brand loyalty, since chrysler presently owns the 'jeep' marque .. and i dunno where the GM acquisition of chrysler stands at this exact moment in time but if that goes through then an SBC swap would pass by the same logic
since the iron duke came from the factory in jeeps i guess a 455 pontiac is an option |
Re: Installing sbc350 in cj7
I guess that I am a bit of a hipocrit(and a bad speller) but back in the 80s I could not seem to get the A.C.M.E. motors to last more than a few thousand miles of extended high RPM use then BOOM the crank would fall out so I put a 340 with a 727. boy I tried to kill it but NO.(Later found out that the crank harmonics killed the crank and a Fliuddampener would have solved the probem). That 340 has now been move to my 56 panel and the CJ got the stroker. DIDN'T the early Chrokees have a 327 Rambler. Dawg

i just think jeep is kind of the brand that bucks the whole brand loyalty trend .. anything goes; even the boring old SBC |
