What to do with my four-banger?!
I own a 1984 Jeep Cherokee. I replaced the 2.5L engine with a low mileage 2.5L engine 3 years ago and now I am having problems starting it (carb is 2-years on rebuilt) and it is idling ruff (probably from low compression).
The body is immaculate (pan restoration) and new paint.
Do I keep replacing the four-banger? Or do I try to do a swap for a 2.8-3.4 or 4L? I realize that the swap is involved as it requires harness and fuel pump, and probably other stuff. I just don't think the 2.5L was designed strong enough for the Cherokee.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers,

I a definitely looking forward to this upgrade.
Cheers,
Now I put a 3.4L with 5-speed, replaced dash, all wiring from door up (including ft-light harness), replaced both ft and rear diffs hub-to-hub (are you sick yet) ...
Just waiting on a zero-balanced flywheel today as a matter of fact,
Here's my story for your enjoyment,

You guys are lucky to have this thread as I promised the gentleman who sent me the new flywheel. He'll get the finished version.
Cheers,
