Default road trip. Banff - Anchorage

Hi,

In march my girlfriend and I are goign to drive up to Anchorage from Banff, AB for a big sled race they have on. A few months ago we bought a 1998 Jeep cherakee sport which so far I am very happy with (being a Toyota man and all) and want to know if anyone has any advice on what I should get/ do to prepare for the trip.

The Jeep is in very good condition and has 198k on the clock, so what i'm going to do is get a roof rack so I can keep a jerrycan with extra fuel and also get a service and the car checked out.

Any advice would be great, also Its a nice forum here, I have been looking for a good car forum since I moved here from Australia.

I and a friend sat down the other evening and talked about ur trip and we compiled a list of things you need to do and things you should be looking at bringing. Since the trip we made from BC to QC last summer it does help. I will send it to you privately as its rather long to post here.

Cool thanks for that, this week I might make a trip into Calgery to get the things I need, like some more tools for the car, toe strap and a bunch of other things.

I spent the last year working up that way and i can tell you i seen alot of people with flat tires from small sharp rock puncturing them. Some travelers having gotten several on there trip. So i would highly rec amend picking yourself up a tire plug kit and a small air compressor to plug in your lighter as service stations are few and far between.
