My remote key fob as well as the door lock button on the door won't lock or unlock the lift gate. It does work when I put the key in the lock itself. The 25 amp fuse in the Rt kick panel is good and I took off the trim panel on the lift gate and couldn't see anything obvious. The upper brake light doesn't work either and I tried several new bulbs in it.
Is this a common problem? Any ideas? Thanks Shadrach

 

Sounds like you have some broken wires where they go from the lift gate to the body.

 

I looked up in there but couldn't see any. I will have to take it apart on the inside and look further later. Thanks

 

Check for a bad ground @ the lift gate actuator. If that doesn't fix it , using a test light check for power there too . Next step if it was me I would use jumper wires and make sure the actuator actually works.

 

Did you make any progress on the hatch?

 

No It's too cold to work on it, as I don't have a heated garage. I'll have to wait til I get to my buddies place later. It works with the key so other than having no upper brake light I can live with it . Shadrach

The lift gate lock doesn't work from the door lock button either and the upper brake light doesn't work so it has to be electrical. Shadrach
