Rear Disc Brakes

I have to do the rear brakes on my 2000 Classic. Can I convert it to discs? Shadrach

Sure, why not? What kind of axle?

It's a stock 2000 Cherokee Classic. I'm used to Dodge trucks, never had a Jeep before. One of my co workers has a 2003 Jeep TJ with rear discs. I assume I would need a proportioning valve. What about the master cylinder? Shadrach

I found out I have a Dana 35C with 3.55 gears and 16" wheels. Shadrach

Ah yes, the classics have those cool 16" wheels.

Dana 35...now we're getting somewhere. Lots of ppl out there will bash them for being weak, but they're perfectly fine if you're not running gigantic tires.

One more thing is ABS or not? I'm guessing you do have ABS, since I think the later models only used the D35 3.55 with ABS. Not 100% on that, though.

Keeping the ABS with the disc swap is tricky, but I hear it can be done.

I'm about to do the disc swap in my 92 D35/3.55/ABS this spring, I'm hunting around for a donor.

Send me a message and I'll dig up some links for you.

if you are looking for a donor for disks the older crownvics whole asemble fit but you have to home out the middle hole in the disk a good machine shop will do this cheap $40 the backing plate will bolt to your drum brake plate and the abs sencor can be put in the one on the new plate for proper alinment. there is a few sites that show how to do it if you look around.
