Rear Diff

1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to locate the correct rear diff for my Jeep. I have called several dealerships and given my vin and it doesn't come up with the rear diff information. Completely useless!
So I took a picture of the rear diff because there is numbers on the plate
I think it says
4896
3058
a02
But thoes numbers don't match the dealer information, the guy said it is either a 307 355 411 456 type diff.
any suggestions would be appreciatied

Re: Rear Diff

what year is your jeep, engine type, tranny type this will give a huge clue as to what ratio you might have . also the main differences between the crappy dana 35 and chryco 8.25 is that the 35 is totally "egg" shaped and the 8.25 has a flat edge along the bottom of the diff housing and reinforcment flanges or fins that run up the pinion housing and the 35 doesn't

oh yeah, and if you have ABS then you have a dana 35 for sure as the 8.25 was never offered (i am pretty sure anyway) as an ABS equipt axle

Re: Rear Diff

Perfect! I think it might be a C8.25 but according to Wiki that is a thats a 91-96
My Jeep is a 1988 4.0 lt with a Peugeot BA-10/5 5-speed manual tranny.

What would be the Gear ratios?
