At my wits end!
Hi everyone my name is Myron and let me tell you a story, and I hope someone can help me.
Well, I got a 1991 XJ a few months back and I have been trying to get it running ever since when I have the time. The guy I got it from was having the same problem, that is why I got it cheap. First off, he got it from his cousin and it was a theft recovery which had a busted window and broken steering column. It was running then, by taking a screwdriver and pushing on the rod from the ignition tumbler and starting and stopping the unit. Instead of repairing the column he found a replacement at a local wrecker. He went to put it in, and that's when it never ran again. That was a couple of years ago, and I now that I have it I have found that there is no power going to the auto shutdown relay which also activates the fuel pump relay. Now i have done a few checks on the system. I have: taken off and replaced the ignition switch, taken out the aftermarket alarm system and repaired the wiring under the dash, taken out fuel pump and tested it {which spins fine}, done tests of all the wiring on the involved circuits and there is no breaks, also replaced the ECM with another with no success, tried new relays and still nothing. I have wiring diagrams from a 1993 XJ that i found online and have them printed out. They look reasonably close. Besides being a good deal, the other reason I got this unit is because it has the 4.0 with a 5 speed and is fairly bare bones. No AC, cruise, power windows, or any of that other stuff to go wrong. Just a basic 4 wheel drive that I've always wanted. I hope someone can come to my rescue and help me to get my rig running! Thanks. |
