Lift lights and locks

I just got ahold of a 1990 limited pwr everything it's in awesome shape (thank god for old guys who take care of things) a couple of quirks though my doors will unlock with the switch but not lock my signals work kinda they will work reallly slowly sometimes and not at all others the arrow will illuminate solid on the dash though when not working and i've been looking at lifts and wanna know why a short arm is no good and a long arm is what I want I only plan on running 33's offf a 4.5 to accomidate when doing light offroading (mud running mostly no rock crawling) but mainly on road stuff. Any answers would be greatly apprciated thanks

With 33" tires you need the long arms to recenter the tire in the wheelwell or else it will rub against the back of the fender in the front and the area behind the back door. 32" will fit will on a 4.5" lift and you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing. Make sure you have the proper backspacing for the larger tires or else you will start rubbing on suspension parts.

Try changing out the signal flasher, it just may be getting worn out.

Not sure on the issue with the key fob not locking the doors, sometimes it's just a low battery or the contacts inside just might need to be cleaned up.

Sorry I meant the switch on the door doesn't lock but will unlock

Probably just a loose wire on the backside of the control then, or the contact points need cleaning.

Re: Lift lights and locks

sounds like the lock switch is not working properly, is there a lock/unlock switch on the passenger door??
if the one on the pass. door works you know its just the dr. door switch...if they both dont work there could be a bad wire going to the body control module

with your signal problem; check over all the fuses in the junction block underneath the hood, pull all the fuses, inspect them, and put them back in, that is always the best way to start diagnosing something like that...

i was having a signal problem in my 96 grande cherokee and some one wrapped wire around one of the main fuses...the fuse was blown, but instead of buying another fuse, he wrapped some copper wire around the bottom of the fuse to make a connection...stupid people

Re: Lift lights and locks

Wow thats special what a way to fry the truck, I will have a look over the all the fuses i still have to go through and re-wire the offroad lights and such on it anyways, both front doors will unlock with the swtich but will not lock i'm thinking who ever put the starter in there may have messed up while doing the locks because they are not just a typical negative/positive pulse locksystem you have to build relays and such.. Thanks for the responses this is by far the best forum i've been on yet..

Re: Lift lights and locks

Ok so I changed 4 relays under hood on the far left and I now have both lock and unlock so if anyone else has this problem thats what it was on mine so another good place to check
