grinding sound in console when applying brakes

my problem is that when I apply the brakes there is a grinding sound coming from under the console. I have checked the brakes, they are in good condition lots of brake pad left on each pad. I am suspecting that it is something to do with the ABS computor. has anyone got anything to add to helping me solve my problem, thans

you sure its coming from under the console? does it sound like metal on metal? is it a fast or slow grinding sound? does it fluctuate or is it pretty steady when you are on the brake pedal?

Re: grinding sound in console when applying brakes

the noise doesn't sound like metal on metal, but it is similar, it only does it when going forward, and doesn't do it at all when backing up and applying the brakes. the noise comes from the console area more under the heater control buttons, it is steady and sound doesn't change when you apply the brakes.not sure what else I can tell you it is weird. lately when I am cornering it seems to make the sound as well but it is very faint, thanks for taking the time to help,

have you tried turning your heater fan up to see if it gets worse?
