Diff swap

So long story short I kinda dislike my Jk alot and am going back to the tried and true xj. So my question is is I have a front D44 out of a 2010 JkU Rubicon I was planning to build for my sport, is there a way to transplant it under an xj? And if so is this a herculian task or something that isn't to crazy. Also what would be the ideal diff to have out back in my xj. I have not bought one yet so any suggestions on years that carrier the ideal companion rear diff would be muchly appreciated thanks.

Don't think it would be a herculiean task to make it fit but I don't see it being any advantage, in fact you will lose ground clearance with the bigger diff. An xj with the factory axles and a set of 33 inch tyres will go just about anywhere.

I found a truss kit that actually welds on and makes it bolt right in, my thought is wider stance for better stability, bigger brakes, disc brakes, stronger diff to comfortably run 35's. Plus if I already have a locked rubi diff no sense in wasting it. All i'd have to do is track down a rear dana 44 jk diff.

Good points, if you want to run 35s you'll want to move the axle forward a couple of inches or they will rub on the bulkhead at the rear of the fenderwell. Another option for the rear would be a ford 8.8 from a pickup, very strong and might be easier to find. Might have to do a bit of work to match bolt patterns though.
