88 cherokee

Hi,

Im new to this and just looking at my first jeep. Its a 88 cherokee, But it needs a new crank shaft position sensor. Does anyone know if this is a big job? and how much the parts are?

Go under the jeep from the drivers side and looking towards the engine you will see the sensor bolted at 11 o'clock on the bellhousing. Using a 1/4 drive rachette extension 8-10 mm metric socket now sure on size. Some say you have to drop the tranny - NO you do not have to drop it also you do not need to reprogram the computor that also has come up in questions. The price for a new one depending on where u buy it you might want to check out national4wd they have a website and call them they have an free toll number, also justjeeps.com in toronto again a free toll number. I figure price between 50 and 100. max.mopar brand.
You might want to invest in a Haynes Jeep Cherokee 1984 thru 1997 automotive repair manuel 50010 they sell at Cdn Tire for about $20. max
