1996 Chrokee headlights, and HI ALL!

Hi all, first time poster, long time reader (not true, but funny if you know Mr. Obvious!)
Anyway, I bought a 1996 Cherokee that sat for 2 years. It has the 2 hi and lo, and 4 hi and lo.
A it of my experience here...
I changed the oil, added fuel stabilizer (on advice of a friend), etc.
It came with 2 flat bald tires, and had to have it towed home.
The vehicle was filthy, full of dog hair, dog food, candy, coins stuck to the floor, etc. I ended up cleaning for about 12 hrs total including shampooing, and still wish I had pulled the seats. I had to take the centre console out and take it to the car wash, it was that bad.
The second day I drove it, the fuel pump started getting noisy. It buzzed real loud, and would bog out when accelerating hard. It seemed obvious to me that the fuel pump should be changed, but a friend said it could be plugs, and a mechanic said it could be a plugged muffler or catalytic perverter. So I changed the plugs, dizzy and rotor, and still the same.
Then I paid almost $500 for a cat, and muffler on advice of a mechanic, and STILL the same.
So I told the mechanic I wanted the fuel pump changed, and he changed it and now its all good!
EXCEPT>>>>> My low beams don't work. If I pull the high beams they come, on, as long as I hold them. I tried another switch (the one that does your high beams, signals, wipers, etc, and still no low beams. I didn't change the actual pull on switch, but the clearance lights, and interior lights all work.
I got another DRL module from the wreckers, and after I installed it they stayed on all the time, and would not shut off.
I took off the wire from the DRL module, and jumped 2 terminals with a paperclip, and they came on. So I installed a switch in the vehicle, wired directly to the plug, which works fine. The problem is that I doubt that is legal, and it is cumbersome to use 2 switches (the regular headlight switch for park lights, and a separate one for headlights).
I realize I could have gotten a bad one from the wrecker also, but....
Any other ideas? I researched on-line before posting, and a few people seem to have had this problem, but nobody seems to have posted the resolution.
TIA.
I am committed to this vehicle. I love it. It is a great winter snow hopper, and handles the Edmonton roads for my wife and kids much better than our 1991 LS400 RWD does.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Did u happen to change your fuel filter? for headlamps might be a broken wire or your signal switch. Had the same problem on a mustang & was a broken wire.

Same problem on a Caravan, turned out to be the multiswitch.
