Canada 02 Sensor

Anyone have a tip on how to change the 02 Sensor on a 1989 Cherokee Ltd.? The hard part is dealing with the electrical clip, you know, getting it apart and back together as it is hard to reach. Thanks

An `89, that should be a one-wire sensor right?
Pick up a Jeep specific Bosch universal sensor. They come with a butt connector on the wire and shrink tubing to seal the joint. I've changed a few , not on Jeeps tho', and had great service from them.
I have two special sockets for them but my favourite is the crowsfoot wrench.
I put the s-tube on the sensor end of the wire, Then strip enough insulation off the oe wire to be able to twist it and double it back. This gives the butt connector more wire to clamp on . Insert it in the butt connector and sqeeze it tight with a pair of pliers.
Slide the s-tube up over the butt connector and gently heat it, I use an barbecue lighter.

Thanks for the reply. The sensor is a three wire. You have given me an idea though on how to tackle the wiring. Pretty much as you have stated but two more wires, :)

I believe Bosch has a universal 3-wire sensor for the Jeep, I know they have 4-wire uni's for other vehicles. If you're thinking of picking up shrink tubing and butt connectors for a DIY attempt, that should work too. I've been told the wires are stainless and not soderable so don't go there.

I have the sensor. I can get a wrench or the crowfoot on it no problem. My issue was how to deal with the wires and clip. You have helped a lot and I thank you once again for your time.
