Hi All.......

....New member here and I'm searching for a particular part that I've heard might be available up in Canada. I'm down is sunny hot Florida and I have a 1996 XJ Country with the gray cloth interior. I've heard Canadian XJ's may have been equiped with rear seat head rests for my year XJ. Is that true and if it is I'd like to find a rear seat back with head rests to install in my Jeep. So my search takes me to the cooler climes of North America to conduct my search if it is actually true that such a thing exists. Thanks for your replies.

Photos of said jeep,
surrounded by scantily clad, bikini wearing babes required for more assistance.

Mr White, I was waiting for some pics before I told him that they were available in the 2 door export models :)

I wish I could supply requested photos of hot young bikini clad florida babes doing the Emma Peale slouch on my XJ but alas, I have none. At my age they would flee from me as I approached with a camera. I would love to have the opportunity to do that though. So unfortunately I must return to the original request and rely on your kindness and understanding.I could post a photo of my wife in a bikini with my XJ but I'm afraid that would be cause for a universal denial of any infomation from you guys.

You got that right. Actually she's still pretty good looking but she isn't 20 years old.

Re: Hi All.......

Am I to assume from the previous poster, 04WJGuy, that that particular item was only installed in two door export models? It seems if it were in the two doors it would have been in the four doors as well. Did later export models of the XJ to Canada have the rear head rests?

Re: Hi All.......

The parts manuals that I have show the headrests available for the 2 door only in your year (Europe, South Am, posiblly Canada to but I don't know what the country code is for XJ's of that year. All the later years show it as an option. I could give you a list of the part numbers if that would help you.

Re: Hi All.......

Thanks for the info 04WJGuy. By the by, I have an 03 WJ in addition to my XJ. I don't know if the part numbers would be of much use to me. I'm sure Jeep no longer would have them available if I wanted to try to buy new....which I don't as I'm sure Chrysler would charge an arm and a leg for them if they were available.

Later years, post 96 probably wouldn't do me any good as the interiors changed alot material wise when DC ruined....ehem, changed the XJ body style. Have you ever seen 95-96 XJ's with rear seat head rests in Canada? This may be a stupid venture on my part but if they were available in Canada either as an option or DOT requirement I'd like to try to get one but if they only went to Europe then I think I'll abandon the effort. From what I have seen in my search's for XJ info, Canada's XJ were very similar to US versions differing little on the outside having mainly having metric instruments and side marker lights above the front wheel well.

From photos I have seen of the rests, they look exactly like the front seat ones so those I can aquire here very easily. What I need is the rear seat back that would have the mounts for the rests. I could perhaps even use a post 96 XJ's seat back and just swap covering. I'm confidant that Jeep kept the same seat back throughout the entire production run.

This is one of those things that you don't really notice until someone points it out, I've never looked to see but I can check the catalog later and see if the part numbers are the same front to rear.
