Re: Our first Jeep
Yes Mr White it's all going, well maybe not all but most, We put the 2.5 BB on and am always looking at wheels and tires now the wife hates that. would love 16" D windows with 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers or Pit Bull Rockers, will probly happen next summer.

Re: Our first Jeep
Welcome, and don't forget to wave!!
Nice lookin Jeep, ENJOY! |
Re: Our first Jeep
Yup love the wave, but man it's frustrating when the wave isn't returned,
|
Re: Our first Jeep
Get the Cs reinforced. Those D30s dont handle big tires(or even stock for that matter) too long before they start to bend in.
Welcome to the forum. |
Re: Our first Jeep
Ok I'm a Jeep newbie, what the hell are the C's that need to be reinforced, and the D30's.that must be the Dwindows that I am looking at, if so are they bad, they bend, I don't now I just thought they would look great

Re: Our first Jeep
GOT it!
My previous guess was goofy. Is it the end of each axle tube were the u-joint connects to the rotor assembly. I now recall an artical on guys welding in steel reinforcements to keepem from bending. |
Re: Our first Jeep
The Cs are the other portions of the axle tubes that connect to the Knuckle and allows the wheel to turn. They tend to bend in either direction.
Being in windsor you have several options decently close by. TMR customs has a decent set available but I tend to suggest Staangs fab for almost anything and this is the same case. Staang has welded up the Cs on one that I saw and it was really well done. Heres some pictures of the C welded up. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2125216_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1601135_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1046897_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4690599_n.jpg The axle truss is usually a good idea too, the tubes tend to bend upwards aswell with larger tires. I'd do that as soon as possible. Or sleeve it like Eric (from staangs fab) did here http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2880724_n.jpg |
Re: Our first Jeep
Thanks 88XJ, I had no idea that there was even a potential problem here, first I've herd of this. now I have to whatch for this and a death wobble, what have I gotten us into. lol
|
Re: Our first Jeep
Well you didnt think we just wave because we're friendly did you? lol. The wave is based on the common bond we all share through this kind of stuff.
Built not bought baby. lol |
Re: Our first Jeep
Yeah I'm groven on the comon bond idea, love it, I think the 4 door JK is hitting home with more mainstream people, women and old buggers like me, mid life crissis kinda sh*t, I'm diggin the whole game wave and all I'm not sure all are. the wife seems to feel better I'm not waveing at the 20 something blonds anyway.lol, can wave at all the old men I wont tho.
|
Re: Our first Jeep
I wave at everyone and my excuse for waving at the 20 year old blonds in the barbie jeeps(wranglers) is because its the wave.. i HAVE to... lol
|
Re: Our first Jeep
Yep, ya gotta wave even to the blonde 20 somethings
Heck cant be rude, its another Wrangler for goodness sake LOL!!! |
Re: Our first Jeep
Well I wouldn't wont to be breaking any rules or prodicals, I'll just let the wife no it's a must, point her this way and you kids can deal with wrath, but you have been warned
|
Re: Our first Jeep
Bah she can't be any worse than my woman... shes asian... those of you who havent dated an asian chick seriously.... you couldnt possibly understand. lol
|
Re: Our first Jeep
This is a first for me i have seen guys running 38" tires and never having any problems, some running chromoly axles (super 35 kits) but thats the extent of it
|
Re: Our first Jeep
The Dana 30 it the JK is much different. The shafts are closer to that of the Dana 44 but the tubes and Cs are well known to bend.
The rear axle in the JK is a dana 44 except for a few in early 07 saharas that came with the Dana 35 but even that was over built(close to the super35 kit) |
