Greetings,
WELCOME leo (Nee How). Never quite made it to Shanghai. Did you buy your Jeep in Shanghai? What was the cost?

Nee How(ha....), Savasa,

I bought it in Beijing...but same price all over the country. Sit still and get ready for price here...MSRP for a 2-door rubicon $478,000 (excluding 10% of the car value as purchase tax) and I got it by 450k about $67,100 US. Unfair...

Re: Hello fro China

Hiya leo,
WOW!!! Seems quite expensive but I suspect ALL imported vehicles are expensive in China. I didn't see very many North American vehicles last September when we were there. Mostly Asian and European cars and trucks. Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Audi, BMW, VW and similar. I DO remember seeing a couple of Jeeps in Bejing.
I guess you don't have too much access to aftermarket Jeep parts in China but the good thing is you can probably have ANYTHING made localy pretty cheaply.
I was VERY impressed with China overall. Polite, generous and fun people.
We did the usual tourist things. Great Wall, Terra-cotta warriors, Forbidden city etc. I think we could spend 6 months there and not see 1% of everything.
Hey how much is gas (petrol) there? Didn't happen to notice.
Peter

yes ALL imported vehicles are very expensive here - all are at least double price as sold overseas. I still have no idea why. We have some jeep modifying companies here in Shanghai who can import most of jeep parts however price goes as crazy as the jeep itself. Althought you can make it locally but it's still not cheap compare with in North American and also not as durable as the genuine ones.Gas here is about $3.9 per gallon - more expensive than in North American as well.

Hey leo,
So is that $3.90 (US) per gallon? If so, it's about $1.10 (CF) per litre here in Canada. Works out to about $4.10 per gallon (US gallon) so pretty well comperable (almost). The GOOD thing, leo, is you're driving a JEEP!!!!

Re: Hello fro China

Welcome to the Forum. A Ruby here costs around $35,000 Cdn and that's expensive for most of us, so we buy an older model then spend the money to modify it.

Re: Hello fro China

yes I drive my Ruby to everywhere - go off-road, office, out for dinner,...etc. I am waving to all wranglers (not as many as in N. America) and always get waves back.

Re: Hello fro China

Actually it was my intention too to get a used or old wrangle and then modify it but the wrangler is very new to China so can't do that way...
