Canada Greetings from Newbie

Hello all,
Here I am, a proud owner of a 2008 JK Wrangler Sahara 2 door, having graduated from my 1986 Suzi Samurai (which I'm trying to dump). The jeep was near new, having only 1,300 Km on it and with a price only slightly more than a 2009 Wrangler X. Having driven it for only three weeks, I am getting accustomed to it gradually but am somewhat annoyed by the not too precise shift pattern (Suzi was waaay smoother) and that VERY annoying chime. I'd sure like to know if it's possible to unplug that unit, as the manual doesn't even mention doing so. Might it affect something else by being disconnected?
Anyhow, I've already installed a hand made hitch receiver, which was a cinch, as it had a factory installed tow hook at the rear (Anyone need a hook?). Don't like the chunk of foam used to block the opening where the wiring cable passes through to it from the left taillight(cheap job). Put a locking cover over the gas cap port and a real nice cover for the 18" spare. I should like to have a picture, but I don't, besides it's factory fresh yet with nothing unusual added. I do like the green colour though. Well, that's about it for now. Nice talking at you and best of luck to you all. - Chasmoe.

Hi Chasmoe, congratulations on finally coming over to the dark side. If you check the JK forums someone there may know how to shut off the chime. Check out Jeep Forum - Jeep Enthusiast Network or www.jeepsunlimited.com if you haven't already, someone there may know.
