Undercoating
 

so as far as my jeep has only seen salt once doing abit of forging on the Outerbanks of NC, the rust is nearly non existant, and has been taken care of...
but now being in Ontario its really got me concerned, initially i was going to wait till i have the lift installed, and spray the entire undercarriage and all after doing the grinding and trimming to let her flex... as well as the side vinyls and flairs...

So im thinking i might treat the under body first, unfortunately i dont have access to a lift/shop yet in ontario, so im thinking of the best method to get this all taken care of...
pressure wash it, scuff it up, hand wash, rinse, dry, and apply...

should i go with a brush on coating, im doubting that the canned stuff is worth the price vs a couple cheap brushes and a pan...

anyone want to share some experiences? advice? know someone that can spray it on cheap?

now as far as it goes, budget 2" lift in a few weeks, for the new tires to start the season right! then towards the end of the season get ready for the big lift for next year!

and about a quart should do eh?

how does this stuff do on vinyl? or should i remove the vinyl (base larado grey vinyl) and just spray that... has anyone done that

Like Rip said, POR-15, the wonder undercoat.

If you want to do your cladding clean/ prep it really well and then use Krylon Satin Black to cover it. Let it dry for a day and voila! new cladding. I posted some pic of this in the GC forum.

that defiantly looks good, i just might end up doing mine aswell, flat black

my cladding hasn't faded... i actually got ATF on it a few years ago, and the "stain" remained, so i just dabbed some ATF4 on the rag and rubbed down the hole thing, LOL... it lifted out dried wax i had got on it and everything else, then took a dry rag and wiped down... and it looks brand new lol

so painting it might be a pain... it'll definetly be a prep job for sure lol...

Some guy's use linseed oil on the cladding and claim that it keeps it from fading, me I don't mind the rattlecan. Makes covering scratches real easy.
