starting issues
 

Hey

I purchased '97 tj... runs well..just a minor issue...never starts on the first try..it takes a couple of tries before it starts up. I had the battery tested, it's good...do I need to replace the starter?

If so where is a good place around gta to get a used one...

Lastly anyone know where I can get a soft copy of the repair manual.

If i had to guess, and it really is a guess , I would say ecu malfunction (or the like )
Thats what controls starting the engine i believe. But please correct me if i wrong.

What's it doing when you turn the key? winding over but not firing? Not doing anything?

it tries to wind over but cant go over the "hill"...its ok with 2nd/3rd try.

Kind of hard to tell i guess without being right in front of it, but if the powers all getting to the starter and its not turning her over then thats the ticket!
