Shaft noise when driving my 2002 Jeep Liberty LE.

I have been noticing a rattling noise in my 2002 Jeep Liberty, LE coming from the drivers side for the last few months, last week I had to use my four wheel drive and since then I get a severe vibration and noise.
I looked at the shaft going into the gear box and there is a lot of play in the shaft when driving in 2 high but when I shift to part time 4 wheel drive the rattle and vibration go away.
Is this a coupler problem, shaft problem or gearbox problem?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
PS. I noticed a vacuum line under the drivers side fire wall broken, I replaced the line, could this have affected the gearbox problem, the vibration and noise still exists in 2 high after replacing the hose.

Troy,

I would highly suggest you get your Liberty in to your local Chrysler dealer as they would be your absolute best resource.

Good Luck
