rpm at speed

my 2009 Jeep Patriot with the CVT transmission never seems to drop to a fuel saving ratio
at 100 kph its reading near 3000 rpm while my wifes Equinox is at 2000 rpm
consequently I rarely see better than 11.4 liters / 100 km

is there a chart somewhere showing where the CVT should average at cruise speeds ?
