Rookie wanting advice

Hey guys, i have a 94 jeep grand cherokee. I want to make this thing badass. I think i want to start by swapping the 4 litre in it now out with another engine. i was thinking somewhere between 4 and 5 but i dont know where to start. Which engines out there am i going to be most satisied with? Also do i need to upgrade any other parts to handle the power. i'm going to get someone to do the swap for me but i would like some opinion on whats good. I want to take it offroad too so i want to make sure it has some durabilty. i'm open to anything

Ferrari V12 behind the front seats??
JK. That was Captain Morgan speaking.:alcoholic:
Those Ferrari engines are none too reliable for off road use.

Hiya CL,
The 4.0l engine IS already badass AND very, very dependable. GREAT low end torque for those off road jouneys AND it can be built up for more power (turbo/supercharger etc.). Now if you want to scream off the line go with the Ferrrari BUT "mud" with a tow truck close by.
IMHO Chrysler has, for the most part, mated their specific engines,TC'S and transmissions fairly well (the Gurus on this site can direct you to the "best" performance matches).
I don't think you can have both (a "screamer" and a "mudder") in the same box. I stand to be corrected but the more power you have the more things will break.
Peter.

No way. I'd never take my 500 Superfast offroad :)
I agree with Savasa. Either build for offroad capability and reliability or build for speed. Mix and match will cost big bux to get right.
