Removing the carpets

So I got caught topless with some rain today. only 15 min but it's like I went through a car wash! lol The soft top was home, removed completely, so I couldn't stop and and put it back on and no overpass to hide under...

So I am starting to wonder if I would remove all the carpets. Any of you guys did it? What are the pros and cons?

Please share your opinion :eyes:

road noise.. i dont know if it applies as much to the JK but i imagine it would - heat. i will be removing the front of mine and using those molded floor matts in the front once mine are shot.

Road noise and heat are probably the biggest cons. Pros are that you'll never have wet smelly carpet in your jeep again. It's really easy to clean with a hose and easy to get the floor plugs out when you get in deeper water.

The tub of my jeep was rhino lined by a previous owner.

Apparently the Rhino Liner is good to reduce noise too. That might be the way I will choose. I'll take all the carpets out tomorrow and will keep it this way for a couple of days to see if the noise annoys me. I guess the heat can't be too much to melt my Mopar Tire Tread floor mats...

Like the others have mentioned road noise, but for me I don't know what its like with carpets in it as when I bot the jeep it had no carpets. I took the front & rear heavy mats from my old van and put them on the floor - for 2 reasons - 1 in summer it cuts down the intense heat and in winter it does make it a tad warmer and collects the dirt and water. If there's a heavy rain and water gets inside all I have to do is pull the rubber plugs out and it drains..
