Rant/Warning/Lesson Learned

Over the weekend I finally got a chance to put the soft-top on my jeep and it is glorious!

Unfortunately, it took all of TWO DAYS for somebody to land a lit cigarette slam in the middle of my vulnerable roof. Since I live in an apartment building, I'm assuming that it was just somebody carelessly tossing their butt over the balcony railing into the parking lot below. There's not a lot I can do about that besides move, which I'm already planning to do in August (planned before the cigarette incident).

So this is my warning to anyone else that might be in the same situation. Don't park under balconies when it can be avoided. I know this might sound like common sense, but it's not always aparent especially to us new jeepers. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

There is nothing more frustrating then being furious with some anonymous person who you'll never be able to find, much less prove they did anything wrong...

There's an ugly black, burnt plastic looking spot in the middle of my soft-top now. It's not cleanly burnt through, so I hope that it doesn't let water through.

I've read about how people usually patch over holes in their soft-tops, has anyone nearby (Ottawa) had any success with any products that can be bought nearby? Any advice is appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your new top. Hope it doesn't cost you much to repair.
