Hello everybody Im doing some research. A friend of mine has reciently lost his job. He has great fab and welding skills and has made a few custom bumpers. I need your opion if these are good enough to make a living at. I am doing this on his behalf since he is new to computers. Here are some example pics.

Looks good, but a side shot to show how it matches up with the body lines would be nice and a good description of how he's tying it back into the frame.

Nice what gauge steel is he using? Nice view of a superwinch does it come with it? lol Now the question is how much and presuming they will also be made for tj's

I like the look. If your friend wants to sell them, pics of one on a TJ would be very usefull imo.

He may want to beef it up some too. It looks a little less substantial than the OEM bumper.

Also, like MrWhite said, some technical details would be nice. Type and grade of steel, how it's built and ties into the frame, especially on a TJ, etc. How easy is it to install? Dimensional drawings on a website are great, a big selling point for me. It instills a feeling of product consistency.

Imo if you want to sell what you fabricate, you need to have solid data to back up what you're selling unless you're willing to deal with serious liability issues. Do you guys do any NDT on the welds? LDP or radiographic to see if they are any good. Lots of welds look good but actually suck the big ballsack. Before you sell any welded product, you may want to make sure your welding process is qualified to a nationally recognized standard. Another selling point.

We do a lot of TIG welding on hermetically sealed high pressure vessels for aircraft safety systems and you wouldn't believe the fly-by-night welds we've seen and fixed here.

That's another good point. The competition is fierce.

what's his pricing going to be like? is it competitive with whats out there now?
