no heat

own a 1995 jeep cherokee laredo, few months ago the thermostat housing was replaced and thermostat. Since then the heat has been awful, they have replaced 4 thermostates in the last 2 weeks, they all fluctuate alot on the gauge and the heat reads half way between the 40 - 100. Used to be at the 100 mark. The heater core has been flushed too. What can I do

first thing i would do is see if it actually opens and closes, aka does your radiator get hot...

if thats all good id check the hoses going up to your heatercore in your cabin... could have flushed it and then kinked it putting it all back together... hence no heat...

is the blower operating correctly...

It dont remember if your jeep is vacuum controled heat or not, but its sounding like it could be the culprit if all the other things check out...

I know i just put in a 160 degree thermostat and it SUCKS for putting out heat... i mean i get heat fast... but just not enough... and if im sitting at a light and it jumps to 210, i can turn on my heat and it'll drop back to 160 so i get the extra HP after a long light :alcoholic:

did test the thermostat and it did open and closed, the radiator doesn't get hot, you can open and stick you fingers in the fluid and its cold. Will check the hoses for kink.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a bad air lock run the jeep with the cap off the rad or Bottle depending on what you have and let all the air make it's way out might have to top up the rad a bit as it will puke antifreeze out and check and see if your top rad hose is the same temp as the lower hose, they are notorious for getting air locks real bad let it run for half hour or so with the cap off.

Ya X2 on the air lock check and see if you have a bleed screw. My 4.7 has it on the thermostat housing.

Re: no heat

thanks, I ran the jeep for 45 mins without the rad cap on and it didn't make a difference.
