nitrous on my wj

Hey all,

well first off, let me say this is a pretty nice site for us canadians eh?? haha Ok Ok no one liners. I need info, for quite some time now I've been considering adding juice to the old truck. It's a 4.7 HO (02 wj overland) and pretty stock(it comes with almost everything it needs) but I do have a drop in k&n. I know with our canadian winters it's not all that smart running a C.A.I and frankly it's not even worth it, face it it's not a honda civic. Well to get to my point, I'd like help or direction from anyone who has installed a nos zex nx whatever juice bottle on their truck. I wanna run a wet set up, however I'm not to sure about tapping into the fuel line because I'd like to put a adjustable fuel reg but it's in the fuel pump. Now do I have to change the hole pump or will the stupid fuel pressure return line just dump any excess pressure back in the tank? Also I would like to see detailed pics of anyone with a set up like this or simmilar. ***If you have a 4L dont bother its so different than the 4.7L but I guess if you have experience in this field go ahead.

Onhe last thing I'm also looking to remove the cat's on the y pipe has anyone done this yet? I'm woundering if it will set off engine codes (but obviously I will re-connect any O2 sensors if any)

Oh yeah last thing I promise, I'd like to get just a little bit (NOT 2 MUCH I don't want a mustang Just a BIT) of noise out of her when I feel like pushing her around, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance hope i get some good replies!!

MR BLONDIE,

What are you looking for, street performance or offroad ability?

Dan

Who the heck buys a Jeep for street performance, and who needs nitrous for offroad??

Oooops. Sorry. I was thinking this was the TJ forum. I keep forgetting there's other kinds of Jeeps out there.

If you want juice have a V8, or buy a 60's muscle car.

The reason I ask is that if your looking for speed there are better way's than NOS, which you really only see benifits from in the mid- high rpm range. For the price of a "DECENT" NOS system you could get a good set of heads, pistons, valves and a crank and do the same thing. OR for the same price you could get a supercharger and it would work best from low- mid high rpm.

Sooo..., if you want accurate advice I like to know what your doing so I'm not giving you a line of BS, if your set on NOS , it's your money :)

Dan

P.S. RIP it's his Jeep and money, opinions are fine but try not to be critical if it's not what you would do.

hey,
well thanks but all I want is to accelerate harder. I have the ho, it already has forged Rods and pistons better cams and valves. both my brother inlaws have GC's one has a 5.9 the other a wk(hemi) and im just a little slower than the hemi. I dont want an other muscle car I already have a 67 pontiac. So if people are done with telling me things about v8 juice, if you don't have positive or good answers for my question don't waist my time and the peoples time.

mr blondie, hope you didn't take offence to anything I said, if so my apologies.
If your looking for straight out acceleration though (IMHO- 20+ years of 1/4 mile and oval racing) I would really look at a supercharger. The price for it or NOS is pretty much the same and you will have immediate power where as the nitrous really only help's as the rpm's start getting into the midrange.

hey Im on my mobile so its a little bit hard to write all this but here I go.
first off dan i have no bad feelings bout what your saying. Honestly a sc is a bit out of my price range, I already have a few zex an nx kits lying around. also factor that the sc will always be pumping and that's not what I want because that will put constant strain on the crank and pistons and so on. the juice is only when the bottle is in the truck and engaged. Ive ran juice b4 on a integra and liked it. So I guess no ones done it yet. im gunna check the americans see if anyone down there did it yet.

On a streetable Jeep I haven't come across it but I'm certain that there's another speed freak like myself that has.
I have helped put it into a couple rock crawlers though, usually fogger kits so it's injected into the throttle body instead of the cylinder via the injector. Works well and a 5lb bottle lasts a long time. Biggest problem we ever ran into was just keeping the bottle warm.
If you do install it I would love to see a couple pics.

Dan
