Longer oil filter?

Hey! So when I dropped into my local Cdn Tire to pick up a new oil filter for my 2008 JK , I picked up the wrong box. Immediately I found the correct numbered box and then compared the two filters. They are absolutely similar in every way, except that the wrong box held a filter that was physically a bit longer than the recommended filter.
There's plenty of room in the engine compartment, so just why can't I use the longer filter? The way I see it, it should make no difference. What's your thoughts?

Unless you're absolutely certain of the fitment (Seal and thread size etc.) I would not risk a two thousand dollar motor for the sake of a five dollar filter.

Like oldfart posted, "It ain't worth it". However if you're just looking for better filtration I'm sure if you do a little research you'll find some manufacturer makes a "premium" filter designed to do that - spec'ed SPECIFICALLY for your jeep motor.
