The Jeep Wave...

haha pretty straight forward, it's the worst feeling when you throw out the wave, and you don't get one back.. even though you know they saw you, ahhhhh the anger that builds up ! haha, that's all :)

Re: The Jeep Wave...

I know the feeling, here in McMurray I've yet to get a wave back yet in Edmonton or Calgary some days it's a wave fest.

Quebecers are very good at giving back the wave. Even with the whole hand too..lol

Re: The Jeep Wave...

I love the one finger off the steering wheel, especially after you put your arm out the window to wave

Re: The Jeep Wave...

I am torn, I always used to wave, but now i have come to the conclusion that if the jeep is stock, the driver wont know about the wave, i am tired of the empty feeling when you dont get a responce. (plus my wife always rubs it in when i get nothing in return) she thinks it is dumb. so now i only wave at vehicles that have mods, it is the only way to get a sure thing!

Re: The Jeep Wave...

Waves here on the island are about 50/50. But ya, the more mods, the bigger the waves :P

Re: The Jeep Wave...

My first experience with the wave was on a test drive, helped seal the deal :)
I make every attempt to wave, however I do notice most guys always wave back.....women on the other hand, low percentage, it does tick you off a bit, but I guess they can't drive, talk on the phone and wave all at the same time.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

My first experience with the wave was on a test drive in a stock JK, a well modified TJ waved first...think it helped seal the deal :)

In and around the Toronto area, most guys wave back no mater their ride, however, women very rarely wave back. Guess driving and talking on the phone limits them to there motor skills with two hands. It does tick you off a bit.

Ya gotta' wave, particularly if you pass a CJ, that's just flat out respect!

Re: The Jeep Wave...

Pretty well everyone here in the West Island waves, even soccer moms in their Unlimited's.
I figure the ones that don't are just slow learners and will eventually figure it out if they keep seeing other Jeeps wave at them.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

so true about stockers... in NC there are just way too many stock jeeps and nobody waves... then you run up on the lifted/modified people and you get the wave...

i mean its the love of the jeep and you know what... so long as they've taken theirs off the road, they know theres a bond between you and your vehicle that feeling of "yea i can go there" and so long as the other guy has done so, you usually get the wave back

though my WJ looks stock, i'll usually throw a rev aswell as the wave, then they know somethings going on with my WJ, and its a work in progress haha

RiponredTJ 07-18-2009 06:56 PM

Re: The Jeep Wave...

Dump the WJ and get a TJ. You'll get a lot more waves and have a lot more fun.
Sad but true.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

or get a TJ and add it to the family :-P

i cant get rid of my WJ though, since its been in the 3 wrecks and such, its resale value is nonexistent... so i might as well keep it and modify the ever living crap out of it...

I wave to modified Cherokees and Wagoneers as well :)
Even though I drive a basically stock TJ.

Hope that's not a gun or the middle digit they're pointing.
So what's wrong with west coast Jeepers that makes them wave-less?
I don't get it.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

Slow reaction time from all the "organics" that grow wild out there. :)
They wave back but your already a mile down the road.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

Yeah i was cruising all weekend testing out the theory, went 3/10, only modified!
Sad but true! i think i am going to print off the rules and start leaving a little present on the windshields of stockers. See if we cant ------ the word.

Re: The Jeep Wave...

:lol_hitting:Cool that idee, Jeep should do a commercial about that!

Re: The Jeep Wave...

I always wave. If I am too busy keeping the beast straight and I miss a fellow jeeper my wife sitting next to me will wave. If she misses it the kids in the back won't (they're visible since I'm topless all summer long and they're still higher up in car seats). If not, the cat or the dog... well, you get the picture :-)

I am indeed surprised to see this thread, mostly surprised about BC -- can it really be the organics and everything that comes with it (the smoke in the cabin, the mellow down factor, the after the fact hunger factor)? Here in Mississauga and around Toronto almost every Jeep I pass waves or waves back, stocker, modified, new (not so high a ratio), old (excellent ratio), you name it. I'm nice enough to believe that the ones that don't wave back didn't really see me, or (especially if they drive a JK) they need a few more months of driving to figure it out :-)

Re: The Jeep Wave...

so Im a newb Jeeper.....seems that the wave is a must, I shall start waving at all fellow Jeepers!

Re: The Jeep Wave...

I've yet to see a wave here in B.C., as someone else mentioned. However prior to buying this jeep, I had a Suzuki Samurai and everyone waved. I think jeeps might not be the rage here as in the east for some reason????
Oh! maybe it's our roads.....jeeps will wander if both hands aren't on the wheel. Straight down isn't where I'd like to be either.Lol.
