I have been thinking about buying a land rover disco. I would spend no more than 10K on it. I realize they have terrible reliability issues, but they certainly are cool.

Any thoughts, suggestions or experiences? Worth buying one or is the hassle too much?

I could always put the money towar my jeep instead but thats not on my mind right now.

 

To everyone its own mind! lol... Land Rovers are nice trucks too, but sorry no experience with these apart from looking at it inline and finding them a bit hard on the bank account!

 

Haha, yeah that's what I hear. I want one but they sound too hard to work with and too expensive compared to a Wrangler.

 

Discos are nice...what year? Also, have you ever thought of getting the Defender?

Driven a 2001 and it's solid. But like the others say, when there's a problem, it's going to cost a lot of money to fix.

 

Yeah Defenders are bad a$$, but I live in New Brunswick, Canada.. I have never even seen a Defender in person before, they just don't exist around here. We don't have a Defender for sale in all of Atlantic Canada, but I personally like Discos a little more anyways I think.

Cannot comment on the L.R., A JEEP on the other hand is to me the ONLY way to go..parts are ready available and at reasonable prices and the trade in value goes on and on.. I have a friend with a couple of L.R.'s but then he can afford the high costs has a garage business, on the trails (I hope he doesn't read this) usually stuck somewhere, heavy vehicle, not one I would want to be winching all day. I'd stick to a JEEP, more mod's...

 

Seems a nice LR. Looking at the price, it's attracting but if anything goes wrong with the computer, any type of sensor, etc, be ready to invest around the same amount of $$$ for maintenance and repairs in the first 2-3 years. I also have a 2002 Acura 3.5RL and the parts on these luxury cars are so expensive, will be the same prob with LR...

Don't get me wrong, I like it too, and it's blue, my favorite color!!

 

Thanks for the thoughts. I think I'm going to stay away from the LR's (For Now) and buy a nice TJ or put the money toward my JK. Less money, less headaches, more driving, more fun.
