Interested in a Jeep...questions

Well, Ive always liked small manual cars. But the only problem, is the clearance. Not usually a big deal, but in the winter it can be a pain, and at times we go back to my buddies bush, (bon fires, ect) and its kind of a hassle to try and straddle ruts with my sunfire in the dark.
My brother is into Jeeps, and said I should look into a YJ, since I want something small, manual trans. and a little more clearance than my car.
Heres my questions:
- Gas mileage. Not REAL worried, but I am curious. I know it cant be as bad as a truck with a V8..
- Reliability. Are there any parts that are prone to wear/breaking?
- Winter driving. I know they have a short wheel base, and Ive heard they arent that great...but how bad are they?

Anything I should look for when buying one?

Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Interested in a Jeep...questions

Hi! ElWray
The gas mileage is around 13 to 20 100km/lt on most jeep with the 6cyls.
Depending of Ur dudget go for the newess one U can afford.
The U joints, wheel bearing, frame, steering components, engine conpression, how well the jeep was took care of and rust.
As for winter, 4x4 when snow apprears and slow down and all will be fine, also 4 identicales tires is a must.
The first things U should look are the front tires how they are used up, the loose in the steering wheels, rust, the frame and the suspension components.

Thanks for the reply.
I have a door to fix on my sunfire, then I can sell it. Hopefully I can find a decent jeep. Seems like they are hard to find around here, without spending ALOT of money
