Hardtop on with softop down for winter????
 

Is it possible, with windows out to collapse the softtop and install the hardtop for winter. I had to have the dealer install my softtop in the spring, so I dont want to remove it. Will store side windows separately rolled up in moving tubes and find a safe spot for rear window and tailgate bar.

Soft top is from Chrysler, not aftermarket.

I would not recomend leaving the soft top on the Jeep WITH the hard top on.

First of all, access to the rear cargo area will be a huge pain in the but!!!

The dual top Jeeps when new are shipped this way, but the soft top is all wrapped up nice and neat. There';s a big bright orange warning label NOT to leave the softtop on with the hard top for extended period. I'm guessing for rubbing issues, may damage one or both of the tops??

Hard tops can be lifted with two people, or build your on hoist. Not heavy, just very tricky on the centre of ballance. I made my own, and it's a one person lift in my garage, just put my hard top on for the winter :(

The soft top is easy to remove from the sport bar, two bolts on either side,then lift and tug you are out.

Unfortunately, you cannot leave your soft top installed with the hard top on.
The following information is found on page 168 of your Owner's Manual.

"If your vehicle is equipped with a Dual Top, you must remove one of the tops from the vehicle.
If the soft top is removed, the pivot brackets must also be removed from the sport bar.
The soft top was installed at the factory for shipping purposes only.
The soft top and the hard top are to be used independently.
Removal is mandatory to prevent any possible wear and tear on the soft top. Your vehicle warranty will not cover damage resulting from both tops remaining on the vehicle at the same time for extended periods of time."

Great info, thanks guys, never an easy way is there !!!! I had read somewhere else that they shipped that way, but didnt realize not for extended use. Yes I figured access to the cargo area would definately be an issue....

Now if it were a TJ then you can leave it on but of course removing the windows and it nicely fits behind the rear seat so you have next to no room for cargo.. that said even on my TJ I remove the soft top and store it in my basement. In your case as mentioned above by another member just make sure b/4 you remove it thats its dry, as mold can set in very quickly. Like take it off some day its been warm and dry.
