Do you need a SYE to use a cardan joint?

:banana:Just wondering if you actually need to have a SYE to use a rear CV style shaft on a TJ? Seeing how the front driveshaft has a slip yoke and a Cv shaft. Could you not just get a custom shaft built for the rear without having to go through the expense of installing a SYE?

The slip yoke on the front is because of the offset of the diff being more on the drivers side than the rear where it's in the middle and doesn't change position as much as the front when the suspension is flexing.

SYE's are normally used to gain back some driveshaft angle after a lift. The output shaft is replaced in the t-case with a shorter shaft and seal housing. Why do you want to go with the cv style shaft over a slip yoke?
