Cop pulled me over....

So I was cruising with the doors off this long weekend in my JK 2011 4DR Sahara.
Was warm and sunny.
Police pulled me over...Weird cause I wasn't speeding?
So the cop asks me where my doors are? I say at home. Takes my license and insurance papers back to his cruiser.
So while i'm waiting I am trying to figure out what I did, why he pulled me over and if he gonna try and stick me with a ticket for no doors? I thought MAYBE he may try and nail me for no passenger side mirror. I have a bicycle mirror attached on the driver side only.
Anyhow the Policeman comes back, gives me my papers and tells me to keep my feet inside the vehicle...I sometimes rest my food on the sidestep.
So, lucky no ticket, but confused on what the big deal about having my foot on the sidestep?

Does anyone else do this? Has anyone received a ticket?

Tony

Wow, I do this all the time, and the only trouble I get is from the parents when I'm either pulling in or backing out of their driveway! My question to the cop and my parents is how is having your foot out of the vehicle any different from riding on a motorcycle?

I do this all the time too. I agree, how is it any different than your arm being out the window? If he was decent about it no big deal.

Pull your foot in when you see any cops!

There has been friends of mine getting tickets on the east coast for having their doors off the Jeeps. *Apparently* it will be coming into effect that unless you are off-highway the doors have to be on.
Looks like me, and a LOT of other people will be getting a LOT of tickets LOL

Re: Cop pulled me over....

At the end of August last summer I was pulled over for "no doors". The ticket says inadequately equipped vehicle (doors) motor vehicle act sect 219(1). All that sect says is that the operator must operate the vehicle with all the safety equipment included from the factory. On the inside of the hard top of my 2001 TJ there is a sticker that says " The top and doors of this vehicle are for protection from the elements only. Do not rely on the top and doors to contain the occupant inside the vehicle or protect them from injury in the event of a accident. " So as I read it the top and doors are not safety equipment. This is the main reason that I have decided to dispute the ticket. My court date is July 4th, I will post the results. As for the issue of the mirrors the MVA only states that the vehicle must be operated with "ONE" rear facing mirror. So as long as the one on the windshield is there you should be fine. One other issue I had was that my windshield was cracked at the time of the ticket. II was given a separate warning for that and given time to get it replaced. I guess if we are going to run without doors make sure we aren't doing anything else to draw attention to ourselves. Has any one disputed a doors off ticket in BC? What were the results.
