2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited DVD Entertainment System Questions
Hello JeepsCanada Forum!
I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that has all the bells and whistles including an entertainment unit with a back seat dvd player. The previous owner has clearly replaced the original stereo deck with a third party deck. Other than being able to put a dvd in and eject it I can't it to work. The screen doesn't come on either. My question for anyone who can answer it is, Is it possible to get the dvd player to work without being hooked up to the original jeep stereo system. If so does anybody have any idea how I could go about getting it to work? Are there third party stereos that would integrate with the VES (Video Entertainment System) Thanks, Nalhutta |

It sounds like you are not getting the key on 12v to the unit. I've seen so many rats nets nightmares over the years when people try to install after-market stereos. Pull the stereo and verify you are getting the power to the right places, don't forget there are probably fuses on the back of the unit.

My guess would be that in order for the DVD system to work you may need to have the stock radio back in the vehicle. If you're nearby a Chrysler dealer my first intuition would be to follow up with the service and parts department to figure out if the two (radio and DVD) need to work together. |
