Windshield Chip: Repair vs Replacement?

Hello everyone,

I have a 2020 Jeep with a minor chip on the windshield, and I’m trying to decide the best course of action. I want to understand whether DIY resin repair kits are effective or if professional auto glass services are more reliable.

I’m especially concerned about structural safety, optical clarity, and long-term durability.

How do you determine if a chip can be repaired safely versus requiring a full windshield replacement?

If anyone has experience with specific techniques, brands, or local shops known for quality repairs, your advice would be very helpful.

If anyone has experience with specific techniques, brands, or local shops known for quality repairs, and understands that small chips sometimes need a full replacement, your advice would be very helpful.

thanks in advance for any help
