1982 Jeep CJ-7
“Whatcha wanna do here is point the Jeep at the rock, roll towards it in Second gear and then when you get right about there, mash the thin pedal to the ground.” These are words spoken by Beau Byrom while he was giving us our tutorial Tennessee mud/rock trail-driving lessons. Beau has been ’wheeling in the woods around Cowan, Tennessee, since before he knew what a locker was. He knows these trails, what works on them, and what won’t. His advice is good.
As we approached the waterfall and punched the gas pedal in Beau’s ’82 CJ-7, it came to life like an angry beast about to take down its helpless prey. Before we knew what happened, the CJ grabbed the ground and rocketed up the waterfall. What’s it like to drive this Jeep? Well, it’s hard to put into words, but if you need power it’s got it, and you’d better be ready to hold on tight.
