Covers for your pick up bed are extremely useful for securing or hiding loads and it’s important to maintain them to keep them looking their best and make sure they last as long as possible. Back covers are generally available as hard or soft covers, both offering their own specific benefits.

Autoglym Bodywork Wash & Wax and Autoglym Rapid Aqua Wax is perfectly suited for freshening up hard covers. If you’ve got a soft vinyl cover, Autoglym Interior Shampoo and Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel are the products for you.

If you have a hard cover covering the bed of your pick up, cleaning and maintaining it is pretty much the same process as washing the rest of your car. Firstly, hose the hard cover off to rinse away any loose dirt. Then pour two capfuls of Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner into a bucket of 10 litres of water. Using a sponge, shampoo the cover in a light parallel movement, making sure to keep the sponge clean by returning it to the bucket every so often. Once you’ve covered the entire cover, rinse it off with clean water.

To wax and seal the hard cover, before drying the surface apply Aqua Wax sparingly to the hard cover and wipe using a microfibre cloth. Using a second microfibre cloth, buff the Aqua Wax to a gleaming finish. Aqua Wax offers all the benefits of a traditional wax in a fraction of the time.

For soft vinyl covers, vacuum the cover first to remove any loose dust or dirt and apply Interior Shampoo and agitate the shampoo with a soft brush or firm sponge. Then wipe the soft cover down with a clean cloth, remembering to rinse the cloth frequently in a bucket of water.

To protect and restore the soft vinyl cover’s deep black colouring, apply Bumper & Trim Gel using a sponge or a soft cloth and rub firmly into the cover. Remove any excess with a clean microfibre cloth.
