Lift? Where to Start?

Lift? Where to Start?
I'am new to the world of Jeeps. I just picked up a solid 92 YJ Wrangler Sport. It has 30's but they look to big for the jeep with the old shocks and sagged springs on it now. What would be the best place to start. I don't need a 6inch lift, axle over's or quick disconnect's, I just want it sit and ride a bit higher. Also is there any good store's in the Ottawa area to get these products. Thanks

If you are just looking for a bit of lift, the easiest way is a Shackle lift, another and I hate these is a Body lift. Both will give you the clearance you are looking for. The problem you will face is inchitis. You will lift it then the tires will not be big enough and it will continue over and over until it grows beyond anything you thought it would and well beyond what you wanted to spend LOL!

Replace the shocks and either replace the springs or get an add a leaf kit. 30's usually don't look to big on a YJ unless everything is really starting to sag.
After that shackle kit if you want a couple inches or just a 1" body lift.

I'd do the add-a-leaf and new shocks for sure but the big question is what do you want to do long term? will you want to go with a bigger tire? if so then how large? then maybe a 2.5"/ 4" or 6" sua lift kit might be an option, then you have a bolt on, plug and play senario.
I'd stay away from the body lifts (I agree with lostsoul... just look weird) doing an soa would defiantly call for larger tires.... new drive shafts, longer shocks, new break lines... and the list goes on! I know... I'm doing it right now.
Good luck on your choice, welcome to the world of wheeling and bring your wallet! lol
