Re: I need some answers about jeeps
Scotty,
Get new buddies! I had a '94 country (auto). She's the only reason I bought Muriel (2000GC Ltd.). VERY easy to work on and had nearly 400K reliable, virtually trouble free Km on her when I sold her (body was ill). Speaking of which, check out the floors/rocker panels/subframe rails VERY carefully. That's where Cha-Cha rotted out. They use lots of salt on the roads here.
Can't comment on the price of parts compared to Toyota's or the mod' possibilities (someone on here should be able to give you info on the mod's).
I averaged 20 mpg combined city/highway over the 200K I put on her. The 4.0l engine is pretty well bullet proof as far as I'm concerned and has a pile of torque.
There's a lot of talk about Jeeps being trouble prone. I have not found this to be true and who cares. the joy of Jeep'n FAR, FAR outweighs any and all problems. Keep her well maintained and you're good to go.
Am I biased? Hell yes! Would I buy a foreign built 4X4 (no, I'm NOT racist in any way)-nope. The family has owned numerous (probably at least 30) foreign cars in the last 40 years or so but for a 4X4, I'd stick with a Jeep. Actually our son has a 2000 GC laredo and he loves it. Trust me Scotty, He drives his a LOT harder than I do mine and his is standing up well.
Welcome to Jeeps Canada.
Peter.
